Visit Us in Peru

Want to visit an orphanage in Peru? Here’s a way to connect deeply while learning more about our land and culture — without stripping the kids of their dignity.

We are contacted by many tourists who want to visit our Children’s Home to bring gifts for the children or volunteer. We are grateful for these generous offers, but as our kids grow, the role of “charity recipient” damages their sense of power in the world. The tourists who visit us now are helping us create a new model; one that recognizes each child’s gifts and lets them exchange something of value instead of passively receiving.

Our adolescent and young adult Niños designed these hikes, programs, and activities on their own, guided by their lifelong experience with tourists to the Sacred Valley.

This program minimizes the power imbalance between our cultures. Visitors get to interact with the kids one-on-one. Our young adults develop confidence, poise, business skills, and English vocabulary while they earn a part-time income and help support their home.

All hikes, tours, and classes are led by friendly, experienced adolescent youth guides from Niños Del Sol Children’s Home.  Your payment, which is a tax-deductible donation in the United States, helps support the Niños Del Sol Children’s Home in Urubamba and our companion residence for college kids in Cusco.

Bring your group to our Retreat Center

We work with a retreat center that offers a lush garden location near Urubamba, where you’ll enjoy beautiful guest rooms, fresh organic meals, a lovely yoga space, and all that the Sacred Valley has to offer. We can help you organize your transportation, tours, food, classes, and ceremonies. Visit our Retreats page for more information.
